 Chevrolet Cavalier 1999

CHEVY CAVALIER 1999

Base Retail Price Range: ,871 - ,571

New for 1999: A new grille color for the RS and LS trims is the most visible change for the 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier.

History: Even though the Cavalier was introduced back in 1981, the current model is only the second generation of Chevy's second-best-selling car. The debut of the current version in 1995 ended a 13-year run for the original General Motors "J" car. The Cavalier is a world traveler: a right-hand-drive version is sold in Japan as the Toyota Cavalier, a Chilean automotive publication named it "Car of the Year," and it was the best-selling new car in Israel in 1995. The majority of Cavalier buyers are female, and the coupe in particular is a favorite among first-time new-car buyers.
Model years: 1988-94, 95-98

Trim Details: The 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier is available in six trims: Cavalier (base) 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe, RS coupe, LS sedan, and Z24 coupe and convertible. Safety features include dual airbags, daytime running lights, an anti-lock brake system (ABS), child safety locks (sedans only), and an optional traction control system (standard on the LS). All trims except the Z24 coupe and convertible are powered by an enhanced 2.2-liter 115-horsepower 4-cylinder engine, while the Z24 upgrades with a more powerful 2.4-liter twin-cam engine that produces 150 horsepower. Standard equipment on base Cavaliers includes an AM/FM stereo, intermittent wipers, all-season tires and a 5-speed manual transmission. The RS upgrades with cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, front mudguards and a rear spoiler. The LS adds air conditioning, a cassette player, and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The top-level Z24 adds power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, fog lights, aluminum wheels and performance tires (coupe only).
